select the PDF file you want to modify in the list box of the [PDF2Word] dialog box;

3. Select an output option
If The PDF file you want to modify is a normal PDF, you should select one of the options from 1 to 7 in the [Output Options] combo box. You can choose to maintain only the text or preserve the original layout from PDF to Word, depending on your needs.
If the PDF file you want to convert is a scanned PDF file, you should select one of the rest six options from option 8 to the last one in the [Output Options] combo box. These OCR options enable your computer to recognize characters in the scanned PDF files in six languages including English, French, Spanish, Italian, German and Portuguese.
Here, we need to choose the option 8, because the PDF file we use as an example is a scanned English PDF file.

4. Export the Word document
Click the [Convert] to open the [Save As] dialog box. Then, in the [Save As] dialog box, you should:
Select a directory in the [Save in] combo box and the list box;
Type the file name in the [File name] edit box;
Click [Save] to close the [Save As] dialog box and start converting from PDF to Word.
The computer will open the Word document with multiple columns by default, and then you can view the effect of conversion.

5. Comparison
When the conversion is finished, the computer will open the new created Word document by default. Now you can modify PDF free. The following comparison shows the effect of conversion from scanned PDF to Word.
